It was epic fun in the fast lane earlier this summer when La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA WEST® played host to the ultimate auto affair. More than 600 Porsche Club of America (PCA) members gathered in La Quinta June 18-24 for the 67th Annual Porsche Parade. La Quinta Resort served as Parade headquarters for a variety of onsite activities and events that included dinner receptions, the Parade Art Show and art classes, a hospitality and exhibitor expo, beers and tequila tastings, and behind-the-scenes culinary experiences with resort chefs.
In addition to a competitive TSD (time, speed, distance) Rally, Autocross and Fun Run/Walk,
36 attendees competed in the Parade Golf Tournament on June 21 at the PGA WEST® Greg Norman Course. The tournament, open to any skill level, featured a scramble format with awards for lowest team scores, longest drive, and closest to the pin.
The PCA Porsche Parade Concours d’Elegance was a fantastic highlight of the week for all Porsche enthusiasts. Held at the PGA WEST® Pete Dye Clubhouse and spacious driving range-turned-event lawn, the Parade tradition showcased a dazzling array of nearly 150 Porsches of all makes, models, colors and ages set against the stunning San Jacinto Mountains backdrop.
“What made the Porsche Concours d’Elegance so special at the Pete Dye Clubhouse was not how perfect and meticulous every car was but how passionate and enthusiastic Porsche owners were about their cars and every car in the Parade,” said PGA WEST Resort General Manager Don Zauner. “They really gave me insight into the minds and souls of Porsche owners in that to own a Porsche is to live a Porsche life. When asking a Porsche owner, why Porsche? They will all respond as Tom Cruise did: ‘Porsche, there is no substitute,’ and now I know why.”
